Nineteenth American Cardinals Dinner

Cardinal Sean P. O'Malley, O.F.M. Cap., archbishop of Boston and dinner co-host, processes into the Cathedral of the Holy Cross to begin the Cardinals Dinner Liturgy on Friday afternoon.
Cardinal O'Malley is the principal celebrant at the annual Mass.

Six American Cardinals attended the dinner co-hosted by Cardinal O'Malley and Father O'Connell. Also in attendance were Archbishop Donald W. Wuerl, CUA Chancellor, Bishop William A. Lori, CUA Chairman of the Board, and Archbishop Pietro Sambi, The Apostolic Nuncio.
The brand-new Boston Renaissance Waterfront Hotel provided a wonderul setting for the gala. Prior to the dinner, a reception for the nearly 700 guests was held in the Grand Ballroom Foyer.

Father O'Connell thanks those in attendance for their continued support of Catholic University, the national university of the Catholic church in America.
CUA senior, Anthony Buatti, introduces the American Cardinals Encouragement Award, this year presented to "Grandparents as Parents," an agency of Catholic Charities of Boston.
Archbishop Sambi, the Apostolic Nuncio, provides some remarks about the value of Catholic education; especially at the The Catholic University of America.
American's newest Cardinal, His Eminence, Daniel F. DiNardo, extends an invitation to all to join him in Houston, Tex., next year for the 20th American Cardinals Dinner on April 24, 2009.
