Seventeenth American Cardinals Dinner

His Eminence, Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, Archbishop of Washington (center), is the principal celebrant at the Cardinals Dinner Liturgy held in the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC.


Very Reverend David M. O'Connell, C.M., President of The Catholic University of America (CUA), greets His Eminence, Cardinal Sean O'Malley, O.F.M. Cap., Archbishop of Boston and CUA alumnus, prior to the Cardinals Dinner Liturgy.


Father O'Connell was the homilist.



The American Cardinals, along with President O’Connell (third from the right, second row), and His Excellency, Most Reverend Pietro Sambi, Apostolic Nuncio (far right, second row). Bishop William E. Lori, CUA Board Chairman and Bishop of Bridgeport, is pictured third from the left in the second row.


His Eminence,Cardinal William Keeler, Archbishop of Baltimore, is escorted into the dinner by CUA Senior, Jon Hartrey.


Noreen Kelly. CUA Senior, served as co-master of ceremonies for the evening.


Archbishop Sambi, Apostolic Nuncio, addresses the audience and stresses the importance of supporting The Catholic University of America.

Cardinal McCarrick assists in the presentation of the American Cardinals Encouragement Award to the Little Sisters of the Poor. Accepting the award is Sr. Cecilia Sartorious, l.s.p.

Father O'Connell with Mary and Jim Towey. Jim is the president of St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa., and was the founding director of President Bush's Office of Community and Faith Based Initiatives.
